This entire section is very much a work in progress. Information may change drastically as I work on it.
The information in this section describes a work of fiction. It is not scientifically accurate.
Who are the cenya?
The cenya (sg. cenyi) are a fictional species, part of a fictional world of my creation. (The fictional world, especially its geography but also flora and fauna, will eventually be documented in the conworld section.) There is a lot to say about the cenya, and that is precisely what this section of my website is for; it will attempt to outline the identity of the cenya.
The culture of the cenya is old and rich. To try to fully convey the depth of certain cultural phenomena as well as their many small nuances in words on a page is a good exercise in futility; for what culture can be fully understood without experiencing it, without living in it for years? Despite this, I have done my best to capture the culture of the cenya in the pages below, and to describe it to the best of my ability.
Note that many of these pages contain a lot of text and may require a lot of vertical scrolling. Also note that terms from the Cenyani language have been used in the texts alongside English. If you’re unsure of how to pronounce the Cenyani words, the orthography & phonology page in the Cenyani language reference may be useful.
- Physiology/anatomy – describes the anatomy of the cenya and other physiological features.
- Psychology/mentality – generic cenyi mentality, e.g. gender roles (or lack thereof).
- Cuisine – food, cooking and the social experience associated with it.
- Clothing – explains why the cenya are usually stark naked.
- Housing – millions of people do need somewhere to live, after all.
- Art – what would any culture be without paintings and music and literature?
- Traditions – holidays, celebrations and other kinds of traditions (e.g. marriage).
- Spirituality – religion is virtually extinct among the cenya, but some remnants of it still remain.
- Magic – the ability to manifest and control energy in various forms has impacted cenyi culture enormously.
- Sexuality – with the cenya, it’s not just about reproduction.
- History – a hundred thousand years of history condensed into a single page.
